The Providence Series, by Jamie McGuire (Providence, Requiem & Eden)

For some reason when I first looked into this Author I was under the impression she was right along side R.L. Mathewson in her book content. My assumption was false and therefore I was personally disappointed with the lack of "love" in this series. Alas, I kept reading because the plot was interesting. Who doesn't love a story about how love concurs all?! Me! Me! I do! Regardless of love overcoming its obstacles in this series I would not label it romance in my library. If this series were a movie in the theaters it would be marketed as paranormal action, or something along those lines. Jamie takes us to modern times with old guardians. In a world where angels live among us, quietly, and humans and angels mingle in love and procreate only to be shamed for doing so... a world where historical angels like Gabriel, Samuel and Michael make appearances and are important influences of the major events through out the series. I did enjoy the story. I hate to spoil things for people who haven't read them yet.. but this series was very... sad, antagonizing and lovely at the same time.

Nina Grey starts her college life out losing her Dad to what she thought was a car accident. She happens upon Jared, who distracts her from her sorrows in a good way. When she is told the truth about who he is and her fathers death her entire world turns upside down and inside out. The man who she thought was being elusive turns out to be so much more then she could've possibly imagined. The story takes several twists and dangerous turns. Jared and his family are far more important in this world and her life then she originally thought. Other main characters peek through in the first book and then later in book 2 and 3 become more important. Claire, Ryan, Beth, Kim and Bex are all other important supportive characters in these books, however, the main focus here is Nina and Jared. The couple triumph over the worst kinds of evil in the name of love. Idealistic type of love you ask? Yes. It is fiction, not a biography. Fairy tail kind of stuff? Yes. Yes. Yes. But why not enjoy it while you can. I do suggest it. The series is ok for younger audiences. Totally PG.
