Hello my Art History lover.
Alas, art was not the primary focus of this novel, no that would never do in a Dan Brown world. There were several other scenarios playing out throughout the pages which held Brown's talented "LOOK! here comes a bomb!" method. The threat of overpopulation and its effects on our world are discussed and in their wake we as readers are properly introduced to other government-type agencies, like CERN, but this one is named the WHO. I certainly was in denial myself about the evil doer's driving force, Transhumanism. So I had to google it. You're welcome for the links. On to the good stuff....
Brown must have had his thinking cap on tight while writing Inferno. He takes us to modern day Florence where we reunite with Robert Langdon as he wakes up without knowledge of his location or reasons for being where he is. Quickly the book progresses into a cat and mouse game, while he is, with his astounding symboligist mind, trying to uncover his reasons for being said mouse. Excitement is laced throughout the pages while Langdon uncovers his mission via la mappa dell'inferno whose clues ignite paralyzing visions for Langdon. This map was somehow, he can't remember, deposited on his person. Dante's The Divine Comedy is not the focus of the book but instead a guiding light for the evolution of plot within.
As we know Robert likes his women intelligent and helpful. His female counterpart in this book, Sienna, aka Dr. Brooks, saves hiss life and to his surprise does it blindly. She is a master of intellect, a freak of brainy nature but as he soon discovers, doesn't quite know it all. He is afforded the ability to flex his historian muscles and show off a bit while solving his current Robert Langdon sized puzzle. Soon we are taken on a gorgeous journey through Florence via Langdons mission to seek and find. Dante leaves plenty of clues through his masterpiece The Divine Comedy. (Which guess what? Langdon just so happens to be an expert on. He even teaches a course on him. Sign me up). We follow the duo as they are guided by Dante and threatened by an impending collapse of all that we know.
After his previous Robert Langdon books, I didn't expect anything less from Brown and he certainly delivered. Inferno, keeps you in the know about Dante and his life enough to understand his method of writing the comedy (ha!) and why our protagonist worships him. Him and loads of people through the ages. And in typical Brown fashion, he educates you as he moves Langdon through as the crisis unfolds. In case you weren't abreast of the Divine Comedy, or Florentine architecture, or perhaps you weren't aware of all that was effected by Dante's poetic justice, you shall be once you finish the newest of Dan Brown's books.

Sexy page turner?!
It's very possible I say this about all the books I read because I tend to read sexy, fantastic, and just raw. But let me tell you about my most recent adventure and hopefully it will inspire you to read this fantastic series.
My friends and fellow readers let me introduce you to Choices of Fate, the first book in the fate series by S. Simone Chavous. Now I stole this from the summary page for the book but it helps paint a better picture for you. On her own since the day she turned eighteen and left the group home where she grew up, twenty-five year old Alexa Ryan has made a comfortable life for herself. She has a great job, the perfect apartment, every material possession a girl her age could desire. Unfortunately, she also has an unusual condition which has forced her to keep everyone at a distance.
Ethan Kellar has spent his entire life running from destiny. When he was just a boy, a powerful seer prophesied his role in events that would determine the outcome of the secret war his people had been fighting for centuries. A role he was determined not to accept, leading him to avoid letting anyone get too close, until the night Alexa fell into his arms.
Drawn to her in a way he has never experienced, Ethan decides to take the ultimate risk by trusting Alexa and revealing to her all he truly is. Thinking she is an ordinary woman, he believes she is the key to preventing the prophecy from being fulfilled and allowing him to live the life he has always wanted, one he chooses. Having been so consumed with the desire to determine the course of his own life he wants no less for Alexa and knows he must tell her everything, give her a choice. Before that happens they surrender to the intense physical attraction between them and he realizes too late that in trying so hard to change his fate, he may have set the events of the prophecy in motion.

Born at Midnight (A Shadow Falls Novel) by C. C. Hunter
HELLO! This is my initial disclaimer that I am in no way a writer or professional blog poster, but I am however a avid reader and absolutely love getting lost in a good book or twenty! This is my first honest attempt to review a book that I loved and I can not wait to tell you all about it!
Born at Midnight by C. C. Hunter is a supernatural young adult fantasy about 17 year old Kylie Galen. Finding herself in the wrong place at the wrong time Kylie gets herself in trouble and sent off to a camp for "troubled kids" or so she thinks, but things at camp are not everything she thinks and she soon learns that this camp may just help her to realize just who she is and how important her time at this camp might be.
For Kylie, a girl who has never felt normal being sent to a camp for troubled teens did not make sense. She knew that she had never been in trouble a day in her life and couldn't wrap her head around why her mom would send her to this camp. All Kylie ever wanted was to be normal to have her "dreams" that constantly plague her go away and her stalker disappear. When she arrives she soon realizes that there might be more going on in this camp then she cares to know about but soon realizes that there might also be more to herself that no one ever cared to tell her about when she was growing up.
Of course there is no lack of excitement with the supernatural. not to mention the love triangle that Kylie soon finds herself in even gives me as the reader butterflies in my tummy!
I have always been a lover of supernatural books. Anything that will allow me to use my imagination and picture a world outside of our own (again another great reason I love books) This series has fit that bill to a tee! It includes Werewolves, Vampires, Fae, Witches, Ghost whispers and even a few Gods.
If you like the supernatural and a flirtation between a "Normal girl" and her two mysterious boys then this will defiantly be a good read for you!

The Providence Series, by Jamie McGuire (Providence, Requiem & Eden)
For some reason when I first looked into this Author I was under the impression she was right along side R.L. Mathewson in her book content. My assumption was false and therefore I was personally disappointed with the lack of "love" in this series. Alas, I kept reading because the plot was interesting. Who doesn't love a story about how love concurs all?! Me! Me! I do! Regardless of love overcoming its obstacles in this series I would not label it romance in my library. If this series were a movie in the theaters it would be marketed as paranormal action, or something along those lines. Jamie takes us to modern times with old guardians. In a world where angels live among us, quietly, and humans and angels mingle in love and procreate only to be shamed for doing so... a world where historical angels like Gabriel, Samuel and Michael make appearances and are important influences of the major events through out the series. I did enjoy the story. I hate to spoil things for people who haven't read them yet.. but this series was very... sad, antagonizing and lovely at the same time.
Now is the time to skip this section if you don't want a spoiler. Bottom line, I would read it again.
Nina Grey starts her college life out losing her Dad to what she thought was a car accident. She happens upon Jared, who distracts her from her sorrows in a good way. When she is told the truth about who he is and her fathers death her entire world turns upside down and inside out. The man who she thought was being elusive turns out to be so much more then she could've possibly imagined. The story takes several twists and dangerous turns. Jared and his family are far more important in this world and her life then she originally thought. Other main characters peek through in the first book and then later in book 2 and 3 become more important. Claire, Ryan, Beth, Kim and Bex are all other important supportive characters in these books, however, the main focus here is Nina and Jared. The couple triumph over the worst kinds of evil in the name of love. Idealistic type of love you ask? Yes. It is fiction, not a biography. Fairy tail kind of stuff? Yes. Yes. Yes. But why not enjoy it while you can. I do suggest it. The series is ok for younger audiences. Totally PG.

The Mortal Instruments series
I did not know about this series until Julie introduced me to it. I don't think it was properly publicized and I suggest Cassandra Clare get a new agent or marketer for this series, pronto! The first movie just came out, did you see it? Do you even know what I'm talking about? No, you probably don't because that wasn't properly marketed either.
The Mortal Instruments series, consist of 5 books, currently.
City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels and finally City of Lost Souls.
This series is considered "teen" fantasy in my local library. Who decided that? Ridiculous!
In this series Cassandra Clare offers some amazing characters and finely worked content. She goes above and beyond in her world of vampires and demons to construct for us a different view from what other authors have provided. I often wondered what it was like inside her head when she wrote them. I must say she is extremely creative.
City of Bones, is the first novel and offers us an introduction to the world of which the Mortal Instruments exist. The characters meet and things start to merge for the main character, Clary, from a normal life of a teenager to what I can only describe as: a different everything entirely. Jace, a Shadowhunter who seems to have a death wish the majority of the time, is the male lead, a born Shadowhunter and a lady charmer. He is quite the fit for our hard headed, single mom New York raised Clary.
When I first Googled Cassandra Clare and The Mortal Instruments I was surprised that there was such a cult following and I hadn't heard of it! Where had I been! (reading romance novelists and having a baby, what an excuse, right?). The Shadowhunters Wiki is awesome and I appreciate the people who run this site... WARNING, SPOILERS! Also Cassandra's website is fancified: http://www.cassandraclare.com/ not to mention the website dedicated to this series: http://shadowhunters.com/mortalinstruments/index.php
All and all, if you enjoy books about the Paranormal (Vampires, Angels, Werewolves, Demons, Fairies, Warlocks, oh and the eldest of all stories added in there for good measure: Lilith, the Angel Michael, Kane and Able) you will enjoy this series and I highly recommend it. It is appropriate for most ages. No sex, however innuendos teenager style and some make out sessions, but you will find death and some fighting. It is not religious in one way or the other but is educational, IMHO.

The other books progress from some devastating news to learning even more disturbing things while Clary navigates this new world. Learning her way, Clary, accompanied by Jace and brother sister combo Izzy and Alex, trying to save her loved one to kill another one to protect the masses as a whole (not just the Shadowhunter world). I would say her progression of the plot is smooth and well delivered.

Erotic / Romance Novelists
Through my journey from my college years to my almost 30's I have read many books in this genre.
I do appreciate a steamy love scene, an angry or shy lover who comes un done once provoked sexually. I wanted to share my thoughts on a few artists that I have read in this genre and perhaps open my reader(s) up to other things. If they're willing, of course. No non disclosure contracts here!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't read erotic / romance.... give it a try. You might find it much more entertaining then your average book.
E.L James, you know her, she wrote Fifty shades of Grey. I have few words, content is good in this book, she either did her homework properly or she is an active S&M'er and either suffices, obviously with its popularity and movie coming out. The editing was poor and should've been thoroughly scrubbed before published. 'nuf said. Also, she has only published this series. (insert thinking face), see: http://www.eljamesauthor.com/books/
Side note: I would eat, sleep and drink only red room if Christian Grey wanted me to.
Ella Fox, she writes about broken hearts. Her mainly popular series The Hart Series, Books 1-5 can be found on Amazon.com easily or on her fan page: http://authorellafox.com/. I got to the 4th book and gave up half way but made myself finish it. Although I appreciate her love scenes and sexual content, I found that each story plays out the same way. A proper review of these books will be written shortly on this website.
Side note: She has 2 other books which I have yet to read but will try them out and hopefully will re-write this review of her mad skills.
R. L. Mathewson, my prolific little love fest-er. I truly appreciate her mind because she brings it to the table in both content and characters. Example, the NFH series (Neighbor from hell) offers a family and their lovers, each book in that series offers a different dynamic and therefore makes it better then the Hart series (If I'm making a comparison here, which I'm not, technically. No hard feelings Ella!). Regardless, she offers different types of books in this genre, involving Ghosts, Vampires, Werewolves, Hollywood, EMT's... like I said, she's pretty prolific and I get excited whenever she releases a new book. So, R.L. please finish the Pyte/Sentinel series, I'm dying waiting.... dear god woman! You can enjoy her mind here: http://www.rlmathewson.com/. I highly recommend her and have to many friends which got them as addicted as I am (you're welcome).
Side note: she self publishes, which makes her easy access, pun intended. Go buy her books on Amazon.com or something! GO!
Kristen Proby, writes the "with me" series. Her series offers a family and their lovers as well. It reminds me of R.L.'s NFH series if I'm being honest. I do enjoy this series and highly suggest reading it in order. If you do not read this series in order you will be lost in her "with me" world. Kristen brings content of sex and love laced with Rock, Movie stars, Sports all-stars and some "I just had a kid, what next" love in there. I believe she owes us 2 or 3 more stories in the series, so hang tight if you get through the first 4 quickly. She can be fan girled here: http://www.authorkristenproby.blogspot.com
Side note: If I could pick one of her men to maul it would be the Rock Star. I want to lick the stars!
Sylvia Day, she rocks my socks. If you haven't heard of The Crossfire series go google it, right meow. Also prolific, Sylvia Day has much to offer in terms of content, love scenes and romance. Her novels range from Office romance to Vampires, Angels, Werewolves and a fifty shades like romance minus the S&M (the intense stuff). I can't possibly describe all that she offers without running out of space. I'm convinced she has the best sex life of all the people in the entire world. Rummage her bookshelf here: http://www.sylviaday.com/books/
Side note: This is where I put on my fan girl T-shirt that says "I <3 S.D.". I am also waiting around for her next Renegade Angels book like an addict who needs a fix. I NEED Elijah back in my life!
That's all I have for today.
More will come.
Don't sit here and wait but do come back now, ya hear!
